How do I get my model Game Certified?

To help gaming studios save time the following specifications must be met:

   Position:

  • Model to be centered in the scene file right flush above the grid

    Geometry:
  • Modeling history deleted / modifications collapsed
  • Freeze transformations to 0
  • Polygons faces in triangles and/or quads
  • All other polygons, lights, etc. removed from the scene
  • Low polygon total, keep in mind what you intend your model to be used for handheld, console, or PC and type of model you’re creating. The support section of the forums will help give you a better idea if uncertain
  • All vertices merged/welded
  • UV Mapped
  • Proper naming of model such as ‘Wooden_Crate1’

   Texture Maps
  • Keep texture maps in the powers of 2 such as 64x64, 128x128, etc to a maximum of 2048x2048
  • Standard image formats such as .tga, .dds, .bmp, .jpg, or .tif. We recommend .tga or .dds
  • Default shaders only such as lambert & blinn
  • Clean out any extraneous textures, only ones being used by the game model should be present
  • Proper naming of texture files such as Wooden_Crate1_D (for diffuse), Wooden_Crate1_N (for normal), and Wooden_Crate1_S (for specular)
  • Just image textures, no procedurals etc

    Publishing
  • Complete all relevant detail fields
  • At least one thumbnail image of textured game model without any extra lights, models, background etc.
  • One thumbnail showing wireframes
  • Model should be in game specific format such as .mb, .ma, .3ds, .max, .xsi, .obj, etc.
  • Proper name of scene file such as Wooden_Crate1.mb

     Recommended but not mandatory
  • Cursor/Pivot should be moved to bottom of the model, right at coordinates 0,0,0
  • Polygons should not be colliding through one another
  • Proper scaling
  • Normals unified
  • No double-sided or concave polygons unless required
  • Single texture map per model unless required

NOTE: Making any changes to your product after it has been game certified will cause the product to lose its certification; and therefore must be submitted again.
